TanksTanks of all sizes, shapes, and configurations can be insulated for increased thermal performance, condensation control, personnel protection, and prevention of heat gain to surrounding areas. The location of the tank and its operating temperature usually determine which insulation and external jacketing products are best suited for the application.
Fiberglass pipe and tank insulation is the most commonly used product manufactured and is specifically for large vessels, but flexible elastomeric foam is a fairly common alternative. Other traditional insulation products can be fabricated into shapes compatible with tank insulation, but they are very expensive and generally limited to use in the most extreme conditions. In the same manner as other insulation systems, tank insulation can be jacketed with aluminum, PVC, etc. |
